Yin & Tonic: Slow Your Roll
Breathe. Slow down. Be present. Want to develop a more meditative and relaxed yoga practice? Or perhaps balancing your more intense workouts or yang (like Vinyasa flow) practice with a slower and "deeper" practice? Join me in Yin & Tonic!
Yin yoga is based on Taoist and Chinese philosophies that believe the Qi/ Chi or energy run through pathways in the body. Because Yin yoga asks its practitioners to hold poses for 2-5 (and more!) minutes, it allows you to relax into each posture, “slow your roll”, and take time to look inward. This helps to reduce stress but increase energy levels. Holding poses for longer will also give the opportunity to go deeper than the muscle work of a typical yoga class and instead strengthen and lengthen connective tissues and bones.
