WHAT IT IS
Master Teacher Rod Stryker developed ParaYoga as a means to translate ancient yogic practices into a more modernized style. It utilizes different pillars of yoga – asana, pranayama, meditation – to enliven, empower and awaken the body, mind, soul and spirit. ParaYoga has roots in Tantric Hatha Yoga, and weaves six key elements into every practice: Dharma, Tantra, Vidya, Agni, Shri and Parampara.
WHAT TO EXPECT
ParaYoga is as much a spiritual practice as it is physical movement. Each class is methodologically sequenced and designed to awaken your shakti (energy), open your heart and clear your mind. You’ll move through a mix that may include asana and pranayama, as well as meditation, visualization and mantras. On a subtler level, bandhas and mudras may also be used. More than just your body is engaged during a ParaYoga practice. As your physical strength is used and expanded, so is your internal fire fueled. Not only does this fuel all that is good within you, but it can burn that which you no longer need, or negativity.
Instructors undergo highly extensive and comprehensive trainings and practice to effectively transmit this transformative art of yoga to all students.
BENEFITS
ParaYoga is designed to lift you up. It taps into and accentuates your life force, rather than depleting you. This is a yoga of clarity, enlightenment, compassion and growth – on and off the mat. It can help you overcome obstacles, destress and feel more grounded, confident and at peace.
QUOTE
“The quality of your practice is ultimately measured by its effect on the quality of your life. In other words, mastery in yoga is mastery of life.” –Rod Stryker
