WHAT IT IS
Developed by Nevine Michaan and her teachers over several decades, Katonah Yoga blends Hatha Yoga with Taoist Chinese theory to achieve a spiritual, precise and practical yoga practice. It is based around a unique integration of breathwork, poses and philosophy that is designed to heighten awareness and deepen understanding of your body and yourself. It is based in Bedford Hills, New York.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Sequences of Hatha asana are further enhanced, one by one, through specific pranayama, that allows you to sink deeper into and explore each held position, connecting body and mind. As you maintain an asana, teachers will break down specific body mechanics to help you tune inward in an important way – focusing less on muscles, and more on bones and organs. Geometrical angles are used as reference points for your body, for precision of positioning yourself throughout the practice.
This unique focus on structure generates a conscious and conscientious practice in which you will better understand and feel your body, and open the doors to growth and expansion.
