Finding Solace In The Noise

For many meditation is seen as being a challenging practice where they feel they must turn off all of their thoughts in order for it to "work". Meditation isn't about turning off thoughts at all, it is about choosing your focus in the midst of noise, distraction, and sometimes even discomfort. We always have the power to choose where we place our attention, but there is just so much noise in our outer and inner worlds that it clouds our connection to self and to our inner guidance system.

This is why meditation is considered to be a practice, just like with yoga, it isn't about "achieving" it is about connecting to where you are at in this moment and working with what is present for you. Can you notice thoughts without reacting to them?

Can you notice pain without telling a story about it? Can you sit with the discomfort of uncomfortable feelings without reacting with mean thoughts about yourself? this, of course, takes practice, and at Vivaya all the meditation and Yoga guides are committed to create a safe space to practice just that, being present.
