About this class

Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing, gentle, slow, still style of yoga that involves long, passive holds in a series of restful poses followed by Yoga Nidra, a yogic sleep state of consciousness between waking and sleeping.

First we use props, such as pillows and blankets that you have available at home, to support the body. This facilitates accessing the state of "concious rest." There will only be 2-3 postures in a class, allowing the body gently to open at its own pace. There is no active stretching and no prior experience is required. Apart from the instructions given and the Yoga Nidra at the end there is no talking or music in this class.

We end the class with a Yoga Nidra for a complete experience of physical, mental and emotional relaxation. You will leave this session feeling like you have been on a relaxing weekend away.

You will focus on

  • Conscious Rest
  • Destressing
  • Stillness and silence
  • Emotional wellbeing

How to come prepared

  • Yoga mat or similar surface you can comfortably lie down on.
  • 3-4 large pillows or yoga bolsters. Rolled up blankets also work. An eye cover if you want.
  • Warm comfortable clothes, socks can be worn.
  • Few yoga bricks. Books can also work , as can dense pillows.
